White & Black team complete ‘WAB’s Big Row’
On Thursday 4th July the White & Black team successfully completed ‘WAB’s Big Row’.
White & Black was raising money for Maggies Oxford by running, cycling and walking non-stop for 12 hours and the team kept the machines going from 10am – 10pm.
2024 marks 10 years of Maggie’s Oxford Center. Based in the grounds of the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, Maggies provides free, walk-in services to cancer patients and their family & friends. There is no appointment required and patients can access services and facilities and time 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. All of Maggies cancer support specialists have expert knowledge about cancer and treatment; many are NHS-trained. Patients can talk with benefits advisors and psychologists and attend sessions and workshops and topics ranging from managing fatigue to living with uncertainty.
With several Olympians showing their support, July 4th was a brilliant, family atmosphere with the White & Black team plus their families all contributing to help go non-stop between 10 am – 10 pm.
12 hours passed much quicker with contributions from Sports in Science (providing supplements for our ‘atheletes’, Judes Ice Cream providing over 50 icecreams, Tenzing drinks keeping us hydrated, Nakd Bars keeping us well fed and Jealous Sweets keeping those with a sweet tooth happy.
A huge thanks also to Buzz Gym Oxford who provided all the equipment we needed for our challenge, completely free of charge, and wheeled rowing and bike machines 15 minutes through the centre of Oxford. We couldn’t have done it without this amazing support.
We can’t wait for our next challenge, all in aid of Maggies Oxford!
