Mantis Deposition – Institutional Fundraising
White & Black advised Mantis Deposition on its institutional funding round. Growth capital in the transaction came from NVM Private Equity.
Mantis designs, builds and sells instrumentation for Thin Film Deposition (TFD) and has cutting-edge technology for applying nanocoatings to complex objects. The company was established in 2003 by its current managing director, Dr Lars Allers, and now boasts as customers some of the leading Universities in the world together with major multinational corporations.
Royal Society – Series of Cleantech Investments
White & Black advised the Royal Society, Imperial Innovations and London Technology Fund on a seven figure investment in Novacem Limited. The investment was the first from the Royal Society Enterprise Fund.
Novacem developed a “green cement” that locks atmospheric CO2 into constructions materials. The recyclable cement system is based on magnesium oxide and special mineral additives and harden by absorbing atmospheric CO2.
The firm subsequently advised the Royal Society on its investment in Nano-Porous Solutions Limited, a high technology filtration company based in the North East of England. The business was spun out from the University of Bath to commercialize novel, patented, energy efficient, adsorbent hollow fibre technology developed at the University’s Department of Chemical Engineering.
Concorde Solutions – Institutional Funding Round
White & Black acted for Concorde Solutions on its institutional funding round. Growth capital in the transaction came from Glasgow based Panoramic Growth Equity.

Concorde’s independence and knowledge, and proprietary software asset management platform, ComplianceConsoleTM, is recognised by leading vendors including Adobe, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle and Symantec and clients include members of the Global Fortune 1000 and investment banks.
The company was founded by IT industry stalwarts, Martin Prendergast and Phil Merson. Its chairman is Michael Jackson, founder of Sage Group plc and chair of venture capital fund Elderstreet Investments.
