A high proportion of our work has a technology dimension and we are acknowledged as a leader in our field in this area.
We find that the rest of our legal practise is informed by our specialist knowledge in technology law. This practise is divided into four core areas: Venture Capital, Dispute Resolution, Commercial & Technology and Corporate Transactions.
We have a wealth of experience in Venture Capital from multiple fund-raisings for high-growth companies to institutional buy-outs. We act for numerous investors on both fund-formation and investment work and we also act on the investee side of transactions where our industry expertise is considered to be market-leading. We can draft documentation for the most complex of situations and our expertise spans both national and international transactions.
Within the field of Dispute Resolution we handle commercial disputes, particularly those related to the world of technology, media and communications. As a result, we regularly advise on litigation concerning intellectual property infringement and the enforcement of rights in technology contracts, such as software maintenance and licensing arrangements, master services agreements and hosting arrangements. The work within our Corporate Transactions team brings us into contact with a range of transactional disputes such as warranty claims, restrictive covenant actions and proceedings between shareholders.
We have developed particular strengths in relation to software development, cleantech, intellectual property and technology transfer. We also advise on more general commercial agreements and our specialist knowledge of technology law brings an added dimension to this work.
Our Corporate Transactions team is considered to be one of the leading corporate law practises specialising in technology in the UK. This said, our corporate lawyers aren’t constrained by sector and are consulted by leading corporations and entrepreneurs across all industries and sectors. In fact we have acted on deals in sectors as diverse as semi-conductors, prosthetic devices and speciality chemicals. As a result, our transactional lawyers have all worked on a broad range of corporate M & A and joint venturework and are regularly consulted in relation to transactions beyond the world of high-technology, notably in the retail and consumer products sectors. Our general corporate practice also includes work on insolvency, banking and fundraising.
White & Black has "made a significant impression. A specialist in corporate and technology law, it has gained client praise for its focused, honed advice.
